Redefining Public Art Through Neon Innovation
At Lux Neon Art Gallery, we’ve made a name for ourselves as trailblazers in the world of custom neon signage, creating bespoke designs for businesses and individuals across South Florida. Now, we’re taking our expertise to new heights by merging the brilliance for LED neon lights with the timeless beauty of mural art. Our latest project at Puya Cantina, located in Koosh Living in Dania Beach, marks a bold step forward for public art; the first ever neon mural in Broward County.
Set to debut on New Years Eve, this mural isn’t just a piece of art; it’s a statement of innovation, community, and creativity, combining street art aesthetics with the cutting edge technology Lux Neon Art Gallery is known for.
Lux Neon Art Gallery: From Business Signage To Public Art
Founded with a mission to light up the ordinary, Lux Neon Art Gallery began as South Florida’s go-to provider for custom business signage, turning logos and storefront into glowing works of art. Our team quickly gained a reputation for precision craftsmanship and innovative design, helping businesses out in a competitive market.
As we mastered the art of LED neon lights, we saw the potential to go beyond commercial signage and bring this captivating medium to public spaces. The concept of blending neon lighting with mural art became our passion; a way to bridge traditional artistry with modern technology. This mural at Puya Cantina is the culmination of that vision, showcasing what happens when vibrant colors meet the luminous glow of neon.
The Art of Cultural Fusion
The mural at Puya Cantina is more than just a visual spectacle; it’s a celebration of Dania Beach’s dynamic art community and rich cultural diversity. This piece, created in collaboration with the esteemed Spanish artist Sonia Sanchez (BySonja), reflects her bold Pop Art and Street Art style while paying homage to the vibrant energy of South Florida.
Sonia, who has created murals for iconic spaces across Miami, Hollywood, and beyond, brings her unique voice to this project. Her ability to blend traditional mural techniques with contemporary themes aligns perfectly with Lux Neon Art Gallery’s mission to push boundaries in public art.
Hailing from Madrid, Sonia Sanchez’s journey becoming a renowned muralist & pop artist is as colorful as her work. Sonia began her artist studies under the esteemed Jaime Sanchez Alono. However, she initially pursued a career as a lawyer before rediscovering her passion for art in 2015 upon moving to Miami.
Since then, Sonia has earned acclaim for her unique blend of Pop Art and Street Art, characterized by bold colors and dynamic designs. Her work has been showcased in prestigious international exhibits such as Red Dot Miami 2019 and Art Brazil 2018, and her murals can be found throughout South Florida, from the New Yorker Patio Bar in Miami to Coco Bamb in Miami Beach.
Now, Sonia brings her expertise and vision to Dania Beach, wher her neon mural at Puya Cantina will stand as a testament to her belief in living with art and colors.
Key Supplies:
- Neon Flex LED- 3/8” and 1/4” Polycarbonate sheets
- Marine Silicone and compounded resin solutions
Scaling and Securing the Vision
Who would have thought running neon LED lights across a mural path could be such a rollercoaster? Theoretically, it sounds simple enough, but the reality? Not so much. With Mother Nature, potential mischief, and everyday wear and tear to contend with, we knew we needed a creative solution—and fast. Enter the “exoskeleton”: a genius system crafted from transparent polycarbonate sheets to protect the neon path while preserving the artwork’s beauty.
Each sheet featured a 1-inch outlet bezel, perfectly designed to grip the silicone securely to the mural. Sounds easy, right? Well, not exactly. Retro-fitting every piece to the wall was like assembling a life-sized jigsaw puzzle—only this time, the pieces were part of an 86-piece skeleton covering 210 feet of neon! Oh, and did we mention it required six massive polycarbonate sheets? It was as intricate as piecing together a human skeleton but oh-so-worth-it.
Illuminating the Future of Mural Art
This project is a groundbreaking example of how LED neon lights can transform mural art into something truly immersive. By integrating neon elements into Sonia’s vivid designs, we’re not just creating a mural; we’re creating a living, glowing landmark that evolves with the light of day and night.
The neon lights used in this mural are handcrafted, energy-efficient, and designed to endure South Florida’s unique weather conditions. From UV-resistant paints to reinforced neon framed, every detail is crafted to ensure longevity and brilliance.
A New Cultural Landmark for Dania Beach
When this mural is completed, it will stand as a glowing testament to the power of community, collaboration, and creativity; the pillars integral to the foundation of our gallery [Lux Neon]. More than just a public attraction, it will serve as a cultural ub for locals and visitors, embodying artists spirit that makes Dania Beach a destination for South Florida’s art scene. For Lux Neon Art Gallery, this project represents the future of public art; infusing spaces with light, color, and innovation. It’s a celebration of our journey from dominating the custom business signage world to transforming public spaces into works of art that inspire and connect communities.
