Brian Poli-Dixon’s art has been compared to the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso, and Wilfredo Lam, yet his true passion lies in sharing his interpretations of color, words, and emotions. As a former NFL player, Brian, like Ernie Barnes, channels the discipline he learned on the field into his vibrant, thought-provoking art.
Raised by an African-American father and an Italian-American mother, Brian's upbringing in the U.S. during the 1980s and 1990s gave him a deep understanding of how words and colors shape identity and community. Drawing on his family’s heritage of storytelling, he uses life’s experiences as a major source of inspiration to assemble narratives through his brushstrokes.
Brian’s artwork has been showcased and collected internationally. The Brian Poli-Dixon Art Gallery/Studio is situated in Hollywood,Florida.
“The paint brush is the physical vehicle that allows the viewer to have a visual look into my subconscious through the manifestation of my work. The world has its paint on me and people like me; I want the world to have my paint on it. My work is the juxtaposition between how I see the world and how the world sees me. I am a mirror—the reflection of everything I consume and everything that inspires me.” - Brian Poli-Dixon
